SOCIAL STUDIES METHODS
Welcome to the resource page for our social studies methods course at George Mason University. Throughout the semester, students practice a range of activities (simulations, role plays, field trips, discussions, etc.) from a variety of teaching perspectives (place-based education, culturally relevant pedagogy, social justice teaching, classroom social action, global literacy, etc.) to develop their own PK-6 social studies units.
As their instructor, I am proud to share their unit plans with the world. Not only will these lessons benefit them in the future, but we hope that current teachers will be able to use them today to improve social studies curriculum and instruction for PK-6 students.
